About us
BCSD-UK is a national business network run by its members to businesses to promote the values of sustainable development and explore related business opportunities. We are the UK branch of the WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) based in Geneva which has some 200 branches worldwide.
BCSD-UK operates as an independent not-for-profit organisation. It has a Board of Directors drawn from its membership and including Lafarge, Conoco Philips, E.ON, Tata Steel, WSP and Network Rail
Our Remit is to promote the practical implementation of sustainable development
in business and the business opportunity arising from a transformation
to a sustainable, Low Carbon Society. As the UK branch of the WBCSD our
activity is shaped by the WBCSD's Vision 2050 programme and its practical
interpretation in a UK context. |
We have member branches across the UK and currently support four member-led Focus Groups. These Groups are currently examining the priority issues of Water, Energy, Manufacturing & Engineering Ecosystems Services/Valuation.
BCSD-Uk has developed the Pathway programme which supports interactive workshops and aware-raising events across the UK. These events , which are free to members, focus on the nine elements of Vision 2050 the pathway to delivering of essential activity required to deliver a sustainable society set by the WBCSD.currently examining the priority issues of Water, Energy, Manufacturing & Engineering and Ecosystems Services/ Ecosystems Valuation.
BCSD-UK works closely with partner organisations active in the field of sustainable development and undertakes independent research, workshops and awareness raising events, best practice site visits, pilot studies and projects as part of its programme of activity designed to support the transformation to a sustainable Low Carbon society.
